Pre-K– Grade 1: Understanding of Self

(Feelings & Pre-Social Skills)

 

To build a positive self-concept, understanding of others, cooperation, compassion, personal safety, and following directions.

Grades 2-3:  Learning How to Get Along with Others

(Friendship & Bullying Prevention)

 

To continue to develop their self concept, build peer relationships, distinguishes between rights and privileges, and learning skills of tolerance and patience become relevant.

Grades 4 and 5:  Learning to Make Decisions and Choices

(Conflict Resolution, Study Skills, Bullying Prevention, & Personal Safety)

 

To help children build on previous experiences, their sense of self-worth, emerging independence, peer pressure, and how to prepare to take responsibility for personal decisions and choices.  

Grades 6, 7, and 8:  Middle School Transitioning

(Study Skills, Peer Pressure, Internet Safety, and Sexual Harassment)

 

To help children make the transition into social maturity, to learn about who they are in relationship to their community, to develop a sense of place in society, to develop socially in a challenging environment,  to resist peer pressure, to learn how to adjust to new and different situations, and to build resiliency skills to overcome obstacles during the difficult transition to young adulthood.

Mrs. Cobb visits each classroom twice a month to help students with self-esteem, social issues, personal safety, career choices, test taking/study skills, making friends, stress, and alcohol/drug prevention.
